10th anniversary celebration,
October 9th 2008
1000 model rockets to be launched on the
same day by school kids from 20 cities
across Europe and French Guiana
As part of the commemoration of its 10th anniversary throughout the year 2008, the Community of Ariane Cities (CVA, from its French acronym Communauté des Villes Ariane), has decided to bring together all its members in a virtual way on Thursday 9 October, through the launching by school children of a total of 1000 model rockets.
The project involves the design, construction and launch of about 50 mini-rockets by school kids in each member city (2 to 3 school classes). Kids will be coached by their teachers for the design and construction of the model rockets, and will share the launch videos on the Internet, communicate to each other via chat and ask questions in a forum.
